SkyDance V Press/Dress a great success!

The SkyDance V dress rehearsal and press preview went off swimmingly despite the complete failure of Second Life voice chat following the Jan 16 updates. Switching to Skype voice chat has added an extra level of reliability just as the original switch to voice did in 2008. (prior shows will “called” entirely in IM text!)

At this time congratulations are in order for all the SkyDancers: Assistant Director Anhinga Chaika, Tatiana Kurri (role of Gopus Bülie), Angel Menoptra (role of Hereau) and Buffy Beale, Pielady Smalls, Wytchwhisper Sdofsky, Juji Kumsung, Neena Botanical and Dot Pellazi. (all role of Sufolla)

A special welcome to our new House Manager:
Unbelievable Destiny! Destiny’s first show was a trial by fire. Not knowing exactly what to expect didn’t slow down Destiny in this sometimes difficult but critical role, her experience and professionalism are awe inspiring. Welcome! SL readers who want to book seats, please contact Unbelievable Destiny in SL to reserve your seats!

Also, congratulations to Pielady Smalls who has been appointed Assistant Producer of the ZEROG SkyDance production. Thank you for being there when it counts and for your steady hand and cool head Pielady!

Kudos also go to Juji, Neena and Dot who flew their maiden SkyDance on January 23! Welcome to a very rare club indeed! Your commitment and enthusiasm for the SkyDance is much appreciated and you can tell by the response of the audience how your work was perceived!

Last but not least, the entire SkyDance production would like to thank our sponsors the Linden Endowment for the Arts for providing us a safe and secure place to do our work!

“SkyDance V – Innocence End” Nearing Completion

SkyDance V – “Innocence End” by DC Spensley, also known as DanCoyote Antonelli in Second Life.

This is the fifth full redesign of the SkyDance show since the troupe’s founding in May of 2006, and features the original  musical score by Josh Zamo, all new choreography performed by the SkyDancers (Anhinga Chaika, Tatiana Kurri, Angelique Menoptra, Buffy Beale, Pielady Smalls, Talulah Bancroft, Wytchwhisper Sadofsky, Juji Kumsung, Neena Botanical and Dot Pellazi), all new cascade costumes by DC Spensley, and a three-kilometer (3000m) stage set by DanCoyote in collaboration with some of the top creators in Second Life including Oberon Onmura and Selavy Oh.

The ZeroG SkyDancers log into Second Life from all over North America to perform for audiences in real time. The SkyDance V program consists of dramatic in-flight choreography telling a story of an interstellar people whose bliss is to dance forever in the depths of space. The Sufolla have no guile and when they are set upon by the Gopus Bülie, “The Destroyer of Dreams” they are desperate to return the Gopus to its ancient cage where it can no longer torment them. The Sufolla sacrifice one of their own to anoint as the Hereau, one who can never again be like them but who has the strength to struggle with the Gopus Bülie.Sufolla and Gopus

Will the Hereau defeat the Gopus and help the Sufolla?
Its your decision in SkyDance V because audience participation determines the outcome of the storyline.

Performances will be on Wednesday evenings at 7PM SLT. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before showtime to be seated and learn how to configure your viewer and complimentary heads up display for optimum enjoyment.

Seating is limited so please reserve your place by contacting SkyBank Alter in SL by IM or via email at, noting the date you wish to attend and how many seats you would like to reserve. You will be invited to a temporary audience group to allow access to the stage sim for the show. The suggested ticket donation is $3 USD (1000 L$) per person, but sliding scale donations are appreciated.

Production on the 5th new show begins…

Monday, August 24, 2009 was the first meeting of SkyDancer performers to talk about the new show and work on scheduling.

Attending were performers:
Anhinga Chaika, Tatiana Kurri, Angelique Menoptra, Lina Lageos, Pielady Smalls, Wytchwhisper Sadofsky, Talulah Bancroft and CJ27 Jigsaw. Buffy Beale had a family engagement.

Also attending were: Technical Director ZenMondo Wormser and Artistic Director DC Spensley (author of this post)

This was our last meeting at NMC’s Ars Simulacra, where the last two SkyDancer productions were hosted. NMC has offered us a much less populated sim to work in at Coliseum West, which has been renamed Coliseum West – Ars SkyDancer for our puproses. It took a few tries to get the sim all set up and ready for our production in terms of privs and media controls, but thanks to Larry, Tayzia, Stella and Anhinga we were successful getting a blank canvas ready for the new show.

The first meeting was full of high spirits as we prepare to enter into a new cycle of rehearsals and full bore development on the new production. This means a lot of hard work for everyone involved and everyone seems ready and raring to go after the summer break.

Meetings are Tuesday nights at 6:30PM SLT
